Man shot while on front porch of home near Sanford

SANFORD, N.C. (WNCN) — A man was shot while on his front porch near Sanford on Sunday morning, officials say.

The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. Sunday at 3029 Cornsilk Drive in Lee County, deputies said.

The man who was shot was flown to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill for treatment.

Neighbors saw a large law enforcement presence at the home after the shooting.

“I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Donna Mcavoy  of Sanford. “We were on our way to church and we saw the roped off area and all of the cop cars and lots of traffic.“

No information was released about a possible suspect.

The victim’s condition was not available.
