BESSEMER CITY, N.C. (WBTV) — A Gaston County father has been charged after his 2-year-old son shot himself with a gun last month.
The toddler got hold of the loaded gun on Nov. 10 at a home in the 200 block of New Moon Lane in Bessemer City.
Police were called when the 2-year-old boy showed up at Carolinas Medical Center in Kings Mountain with a gunshot wound to the stomach.
The boy’s father, Michael Walls, has been charged in the case, Captain Roselle with the Gaston County Police Department said Monday.
Walls faces charges of leaving an unsecured weapon out and child neglect and endangerment.
The child has been recovering and is expected to be OK.
