Durham police seek man who bought gum, then robbed store

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Durham police are trying to track down a man who robbed a gas station convenience store Wednesday morning.

The robbery happened around 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Marathon convenience store at 3705 North Duke Street, Durham Police said in an email on Monday evening.

The man entered the business and first bought a pack of gum, police said. He then demanded money and “implied a weapon, but no weapon was seen,” police said.

Police described the suspect as a black male in his late 30s or early 40s. He was 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall with a thin build. He had a full beard with gray patches. Police said the suspect was also wearing a black hoodie with the hood pulled around his face, charcoal gray jeans and sunglasses.
