Raleigh Rescue Mission hosts Christmas gift shop for children

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The Raleigh Rescue Mission hosted a Christmas gift shop for children on Saturday.

Kids got to choose up to two gifts to give to family members.

“I got my mom a bag that is pink and said ‘Mom’ and I also got her a diary,” one little girl said.

Volunteers helped them wrap their presents and make Christmas cards as well

Parents were also able to buy new toys at a discounted rate – some up to 70 percent below normal price.

“It is fantastic. The turnout has been so much greater than we anticipated.  It’s just wonderful to see so many these kids excited to pick out a gift for a parent or some other family member,” an organizer of the event said.

Santa paid a visit to the store and several choirs showed up to sing Christmas carols.
