Man charged with DWI after flipping BMW in crash north of Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A man was charged with DWI after wrecking his BMW in a single-car crash on Saturday night, officials said.

The wreck happened around 8:45 p.m. at Durant Road and Barton Creek Road, which is north of I-540 and outside the Raleigh city limits.

Matthew Belvin, 33, lost control of the BMW, which flipped during the crash, according to the N.C. State Highway Patrol.

In addition to a DWI, Belvin was charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane, troopers said.

Belvin was taken to WakeMed for treatment after he suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash, troopers said.

Authorities are awaiting blood test results for more information about Belvin’s blood-alcohol level.

Durant Road was closed late Saturday night but reopened later.
