The search was previously underway in the area of Rock Drive and Riverview Road, Wake County deputies said.

Officials said around 10:35 p.m. that Owen Wycoff was found at Church’s Chicken at 1401 New Bern Avenue, which is about 5 miles from his home.

Owen’s dad said that his son, who is new to the area, started off walking to a friend’s house, but got lost.

Owen ended up at the Church’s Chicken, where the staff took care of him until he was found, dad Ramon Wycoff said.

Owen was last seen around 2:30 p.m. at his home in the 900 block of Riverview Road, officials said.

Owen had been dropped off at his home after school, according to deputies.

When Owen’s dad arrived home around 5:30 p.m., his son was not there and deputies were later called.

Neighbors later joined the search, which was in an area about 3 to 4 miles around the home, officials said.
