61-year-old man found shot to death in Durham Saturday night ID’d


DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A man was found shot to death in Durham late Saturday night, police said.

The incident happened around 10:45 p.m. in the 1400 block of Mathison Street, according to police.

Durham police were on the scene investigating the shooting until around 6 a.m. Sunday. The scene is in an area just off the Durham Freeway near South Alston Avenue.

Police identified the victim on Monday as Fredrick McLucas, 61, of Durham.

Police said a male suspect was taken into custody near the scene Saturday night, but said on Monday that the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.
