WEST END, N.C. (WNCN) — A 2-year-old boy was bitten on his face by a dog Monday evening at a home in Moore County, authorities said.
The incident, which was reported at 6:30 p.m., involved a family pet and happened at a home on Oakland Lane in Jackson Springs in the West End area of Moore County, officials said.
The dog bit the boy when he grabbed the dog, according to Moore County Chief Deputy Frank Rodriguez.
The dog turned and snapped at the boy, biting him in the face, Rodriguez said.
The toddler was bleeding, but suffered a minor wound and was taken to Moore Regional Hospital as a precaution.
The dog will be quarantined for a minimum of 10 days by the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control division and will be checked for shots, temperament, and history, deputies said.
The division will determine if the animal poses a threat to the public.
