WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WNCN) — Winston Salem State University was on lockdown Friday following a stabbing incident near Hill Hall, school officials confirmed.
People on campus were being told to stay inside until further notice, and people not already on campus were being told to avoid the area.
Police said in a statement the student who was stabbed did not appear to suffer life-threatening injuries.
WFMY-TV reported Terrance Semple, 20, a sophomore business administration major, was stabbed by a person with a knife in the incident.
Police say they have a suspect and are seeking warrants. They did not identify the suspect.
The school immediately issued a lockdown and lifted it about 2 ½ hours later when they determined the suspect in the stabbing was no longer on campus.
