Fayetteville police charge man wanted in 2 armed robberies at motels

UPDATE:

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Fayetteville police have charged the man wanted in connection with two armed robberies at two different Fayetteville motels, police said Friday.

Dennis Horne, 42, of Fayetteville, has been charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of felony possession of stolen goods.

Police said Horne was already in custody at the Cumberland County Detention Center facing charges from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Horne is still in custody and being held under a $175,000 secured bond.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — The Fayetteville Police Department is investigating two armed robberies at motels that they believe involve the same suspect.

The first armed robbery was reported on Nov. 23 around 1:30 a.m. at the Econo Lodge located at 1952 Cedar Creek Road and involved a man who was wearing an orange hoodie with blue writing and dark blue jeans, police said.

According to police, the second armed robbery occurred Nov. 25 around 10:30 p.m. at the Quality Inn located at 1725 Jim Johnson Road. In that robbery, a man entered the motel, pulled out a gun, threatened the female employee and demanded money.

The suspect was able to come away with an undetermined amount of cash and fled the motel in a gray or silver sedan along Cedar Creek Road, police said.

It was during the investigation of the Nov. 25 armed robbery that police connected the suspect to the robbery two days earlier.

The suspect is described as a white male, 30-40 years old, with a thin build. Police said he’s between 5 foot 9 and 5 foot 11 inches tall and weighs between 160-190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a Carhartt jacket, gray hoodie on underneath, light blue jeans and black/grey sneakers.
