NC man arrested after leading Wake deputies on pursuit, running from SUV

KNIGHTDALE, N.C. (WNCN) – The Wake County Sheriff’s Office confirms an arrest was made after a suspect jumped and ran from a vehicle near Horton and Buffaloe roads Tuesday morning.

Deputies said John Aaron Bailey, 34, of Hertford, led law enforcement on a brief chase before the suspect jumped from the vehicle.

According to a Magistrate’s Order obtained by CBS North Carolina, Bailey is accused of hitting a Wake County Sheriff’s Office deputy with the side mirror of his 2015 Ford Explorer when he sped away from the scene of the traffic stop. The deputy suffered an injury to his left arm and wrist.

Bailey also had more than 400 grams of cocaine in his possession, court documents show.

Bailey is charged with fleeing or eluding arrest with a motor vehicle, trafficking in cocaine and assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, according to online booking records.
