FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — One man is dead and another was injured in a crash that occurred Tuesday night in Fayetteville, police said.
Officers responded to a call regarding a single-vehicle crash just before 11 p.m. in the 1600 block of Purdue Drive. A preliminary investigation has revealed that a 1998 Ford Explorer was heading south on Purdue Drive when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Tony McKeithan, 22, of Fayetteville, was pronounced dead at the scene. His 20-year-old passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment, police said.
The crash is still under investigation.
