Winter weather forces delay for state football championship games

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — With winter weather sweeping across North Carolina, state athletics officials have delayed the 4AA and 4A Football State Championships on Saturday.

Each game will be delayed by three hours, officials said.

Wake Forest will play Mallard Creek for the 4AA title at 3 p.m. at BB&T Field at Wake Forest Univeristy in Winston-Salem. Scotland will face off against Harding University on the same field at 7 p.m.

The rest of Saturday’s games are as follows:

1A Championships
Carter-Finley Stadium – NCSU, Raleigh

12 p.m.: 1A #1 North Duplin vs #2 Cherokee

4 p.m.: 1AA #1 Tarboro vs. #1 Mount Airy

2A Championships
Kenan Stadium – UNC, Chapel Hill

3 p.m.: 2AA #1 East Duplin vs. #2 Hibriten

7 p.m.: 2A #5 Wallace-Rose Hill vs. #1 Reidsville

3A Championships
Brooks Field at Wallace
Wade Stadium – Duke, Durham

3 p.m.: 3A #2 Havelock vs. #1 Charlotte Catholic

7 p.m.: 3AA #2 New Hanover vs. #2 A.C. Reynolds
