Lewis flirts with perfection for Rangers…Wright on DL

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Rangers’ Colby Lewis took a no-hitter into the ninth inning and improved to 6-0 with a 5-1 win over Oakland. Lewis lost a perfect game with a two-out walk to Yonder Alonzo in the eighth inning and the no-hitter on a lead-off double by Max Muncy in the ninth.

NEW YORK (AP) — New York Mets third baseman David Wright is scheduled for surgery to repair a herniated disk in his neck Thursday. The team did not reveal an estimated timeframe for Wright’s potential return, but the 33-year-old captain is expected to miss most of the remainder of the season.

CLEVELAND (AP)— Golden State coach Steve Kerr has an old teammate coming to be part of Game 6 of the NBA Finals when the Warriors try to close out the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight. Turner Sports’ Craig Sager was invited by ESPN to help with the broadcast on ABC. It’s the first time Sager will work an NBA Finals game.

BELMONT, Mich. (AP) — Defending champion Lexi Thompson shot a 6-under 65 to grab a share of the first round lead in the Meijer LPGA Classic. The 21-year old is tied for the lead with 52-year-old Laura Davies, Sei Young Kim, Carlota Ciganda and Paula Reto.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Fired Baylor football coach Art Briles is not going down without a fight. In a motion filed as part of his wrongful termination lawsuit, Briles has indicated he has no interest in settling a federal lawsuit filed against him and the university by a woman who was raped by a football player.
