Duke’s Grayson Allen had a career-best 12 rebounds.
Omer Yurtseven scored a career-high 29 points, and North Carolina State held on to beat No. 19 Clemson 78-77 on Thursday night.
“We’ve been practicing like crazy trying to get better,” Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski said.
Cameron Johnson also had 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Tar Heels.
It was the second win against a No. 2-ranked team this season for N.C. State.
Virginia trailed only briefly and led 35-28 at halftime.
N.C. State went 5:42 without a point at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second.
The Wolfpack had problems with Clemson’s defense in a critical stretch.
Grayson Allen scored 22 points and Trevon Duval scored 11 of his 16 in the second half.
North Carolina scored the last eight points of the game.
